Story:

A typical war tale, the story is set on the backdrop of the Kargil war when the hilly terrains get occupied by mercenaries under the supervision of the Pakistani army including some of their own officers. There is a Malayalam regiment headed by none other than colonel Mahadevan (Mohanlal) who is a man of sheer discipline, immense courage and also an experienced veteran of war. He has a strategic and clever mind and he is well supported by some dedicated patriots in the form of Subedaar Fussy Ahmed (Siddique), Major Rajesh (Biju Menon) and others. While the regiment is busy thinking about getting back to their families and missing home, the encroachment by Pakistan happens and colonel Mahadevan enters the scene to recapture the tough terrains of the Kargil hills with his regiment. What are the different situations involved in it? How does the emotional side of a soldier gets impacted by this? These issues form the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come out with a predictable story line but then it was his presentation and the narration that made things interesting. With a tightly written script and then a smooth and efficient screenplay, the scenes got enough voltage with some powerful dialogues and a crisp editing of the followings. The real spine for the movie has been the cinematography that captured the locales and the settings correctly. Music was just about okay and does not have much to rave about. Mohanlal has come out with a delectable performance but then it was not upto the power packed stint he did in his earlier film 'Mission 90 days', Biju Menon and Siddique showed true spirit as committed soldiers while Suraj Venjaramoodu and Cochin Haneefa actually brought some relief with their comedy in the otherwise serious film. Even the female characters contributed their bit with Sania looking quite ***y and delivering a good performance. The others were average and do not have much scope to perform.

Conclusion:
The war tale has been the regular product of Major Ravi, the director but then he has managed to keep the audience engaged with his story telling capacity. It surely stirs the patriotic feelings for many and while the first half is more on the character building and explaining at length about each one, the second half picks up good speed and takes the audience into a breathtaking climax. Overall, the pace of the film is well maintained though there are few hiccups here and there. The movie will not be a runaway hit but given the situation of the other movies, it surely has a chance to get to the success mark. For now, the makers will have some real good profits with this venture
